Internship Opportunities


The Greater Washington Initiative (GWI) seeks a full-time/part time intern for an unpaid internship that will offer you exposure to many local jurisdictions officials as well as to visiting international delegations and local senior business executives. You will learn firsthand how an economic development agency markets an entire region in order to attract business to the area. Working at GWI will also give you access to certain Greater Washington Board of Trade activities.

The intern’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assisting the Business Development staff in the planning of national and international marketing missions;

Conducting internet research on relevant topics for marketing missions or for client requests;

Assisting with the preparation of proposals used by clients to make expansion and site selection decisions;

Attending Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and Area Business Development Officials meeting; and

Assisting the staff (including the marketing and research teams) with general office duties including mailings, faxing, photocopying, filing, etc. The position requires a student who has an interest in marketing, economic development, international and national business issues. The person should also have strong computer (Microsoft Office Suite) and internet research skills, as well as excellent organizational skills. Prior work experience is a prerequisite.
