A Bioscience Hub – Updated Map Highlights Facilities and Companies. Nearly 21,000 employees work in Greater Washington’s bioscience industry, according to an updated GWI Bioscience Industry brochure that includes a map of regional bioscience resources –from federal labs to major bioscience companies. With increasing federal support allocated to our region, the outlook for continued growth in this sector is strong.
Coming Soon: Economic Forecast, Aerospace Industry Overview. Developing quality, relevant regional research is a major GWI priority. Upcoming publications include: 2007 Regional Report that includes an economic forecast through 2012 (June 6 release) and Aerospace & Defense Industry Overview that features a map with more than 50 aerospace-related firms. (June 15 release). Both publications will be available in print, and online at www.greaterwashington.org.

Site Selection Honors GWI with “Top Group” Award. The Greater Washington Initiative is one of 10 economic development organizations to earn Site Selection magazine’s “Top Group” award and is profiled in the May 2007 issue. The selection was based on various criteria, such as jobs gained, innovative programs, and customer service.
