Greater Washington Counties Recognized for IT
Nine regional governments top-ranked in Digital Counties Survey
August 21, 2008; Washington, DC – The Center for Digital Government has completed this year's evaluation of America's top digital county governments, those that use information technology in increasingly innovative ways to improve service to their citizens.
Nine counties in the Greater Washington region ranked in the top 10 in each of their respective population categories (see rankings below). As born out by this year’s survey, Greater Washington’s counties are excelling in finding new and innovative ways to utilize cutting-edge technology to better service their residents. And this bodes well for businesses, too.
“When corporate decision-makers are looking to relocate or expand a business, they not only look at the quality of the workforce and quality of life issues, but they also want to make sure that the local government is well-run, innovative, and cost-effective” said Matt Erskine, executive director of the Greater Washington Initiative. “Having nine counties in the Greater Washington region top in the country shows that we are a great destination, both for businesses and for their employees.”
