20th October Conference in Manchester to Focus on How U.K. Technology Firms Can Win Contracts with the U.S. Government
WASHINGTON, DC; 27 September 2005 – U.K. Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the Greater Washington Initiative (GWI) will host a half-day conference in Manchester, England on Thursday, 20 October, on how small - and medium - sized British technology companies can win contracts with the U.S. Government, the world's largest buyer of technology.
U.S. Government spending on technology is projected to increase from £32 billion ($58 billion) in 2005 to £41 billion ($74 billion) in 2009, with more than half of this spending earmarked for the U.S. military and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Among the featured speakers will be Mark Evans, Software Engineer, of Tessella Support Services plc, a global technology firm with offices throughout the U.K., including Warrington and Oxfordshire. Tessella's newest company, Tessella Inc., based in Chevy Chase, MD, is part of a Lockheed Martin team that earlier this month won a six-year, £170 million ($308 million) contract to build an Electronic Records Archives system for the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.
