New Jobs Keep Coming
In 2005, Greater Washington added nearly 72,000 jobs, second to Miami (90,300). The region added significantly more jobs than each of the nation's three largest matro areas - New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Multi-Year Leader in Job Growth
Since 2000, Greater Washington has added more than 270,000 new jobs, outpacing Miami, the nearest competitor, by 62,000 jobs. Boston, Chicago, New York and San Francisco all had net losses.

Low Unemployment
In 2005, Greater Washington's unemployment rate was 3.4%, significantly lower than the national average of 5.1%.
