As part of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Statistical Area, Calvert County offers a variety of amenities. The Solomons town center, located just seven miles from the PAX River Naval Air Station, Lexington Park, Maryland, provides an ideal location for companies supporting operations on the base.

Calvert's economic base continues to diversify and its location provides access to national and international airports, major highways, the Port of Baltimore, major universities, a State Enterprise Zone, an abundant work force, cultural and recreational activities and an excellent quality of life. Although positioned in one of the nation's sixth wealthiest MSA's, Calvert's cost of living remains comfortable. A low crime rate creates a safe place to live, and preservation oriented planning protects the County's character.
