Greater Washington Initiative Welcomes Michael Baughman as Director, North American Business Development
WASHINGTON , DC; March 8, 2006 — The Greater Washington Initiative ( GWI), the region’s economic development marketing organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Baughman as Director of North American Business Development. Michael joined the staff this week and participated in GWI’s activities at FOSE 2006.
Previously, Michael served as a Private Banking Manager for BB&T in Greenville, S.C. and the Northern Virginia region of Greater Washington. While with BB&T Michael led a regional team charged with the delivery of new business development, strategic planning and projects. Michael was responsible for developing a private banking strategy in a new market, Northern Virginia, and led his new team to become one of the top performing teams in the bank in less than two years.
Before joining BB&T, Michael was an Internal Account Executive with SEI Investments where he delivered sales presentations to senior-level executives and helped create new business in coordination with product development and sales teams. He was the only internal representative responsible for 12 new institutional client relationships that generated more than $400,000 in new revenue. Michael also helped standardize the internal proposal processes and sales management efforts for the firm.
