Greater Washington Marketing Mission Raises Visibility
of U.S. Business Opportunities Among Canadian Executives
The conferences – targeting firms in homeland security, hardware/software, defense, IT, aerospace, communications and telecom/wireless – will connect Canadian firms seeking U.S. government contracts with companies and experts who will provide testimonials and share success stories. Execs in Canada have been invited to learn about the benefits of doing business with the U.S. government and locating a business in Greater Washington.
“For the second consecutive year, Greater Washington was the only large metro area in the country with positive job growth; regional employment increased by 19,900 jobs in 2003,” said Thomas G. Morr, GWI Managing Partner. “Accessibility to the U.S. government is a strength of this area. Total federal procurement in Greater Washington is expected to top an estimated $39 billion in 2003 and continue to increase. As we take this message to Canadian businesses, our goal is to help our regional economy continue to grow.”
The GWI marketing mission is a collaborative effort of GWI and numerous Canadian business organizations, including the Exporters and Importers Association of Alberta, the Greater Halifax Partnership and the World Trade Centre Montreal. GWI organizes similar programs; previous conferences were held in Canada, the UK and Germany.
The Washington-area delegation includes Judy Bradt, Summit Insight; Gary Cook and Deborah Lague, General Services Administration; William Couper, Bank of America; Kathy Fuller, Aronson & Company; and Pater Linzmeyer and Jeffrey Newman, Foley & Lardner. Canadian rep Colin Hung from Panorama Business Views will also speak and join the traveling delegation.
