TOR International Opens Washington, DC Office
to Provide Support for U.S. Contractors Working Abroad

May 12, 2004; Washington, DC – TOR International, an established U.K.-based security firm, has opened an office in Washington, DC to support U.S. clients working in hostile environments around the world. TOR is currently operating in Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas where security is a concern. Approximately ten employees are expected to be hired within the next 12 months.

“We’re pleased to welcome TOR International to the U.S. and the Greater Washington area,” said Thomas Morr, Managing Partner of the Greater Washington Initiative (GWI). “Like many companies, the area is a good fit for TOR, thanks to its proximity to the federal government. We wish them great success.”

TOR provides pre-deployment training for executives at its Virginia facility. Additional training bases operate currently in the U.K. and Jordan. The firm’s next training course in the U.S. is planned for June 7. TOR also supplies security services for clients including security teams, threat assessments, safe transit in hostile environments, equipment procurement, secure compounds, emergency procedures and contingency planning for extraction from hostile situations.

“Many of the multi-national organizations operating in security-focused locales are headquartered in the Greater Washington area,” said Guy Enderle, TOR International’s North American director.  “GWI’s market perspective was valuable in introducing us to the region’s contractors who naturally place tremendous value on the safety of their employees slated to work overseas.”
