18th October Conference in London to Focus on How U.K. Technology Firms Can Win Contracts with the U.S. Government
WASHINGTON , DC; 27 September 2005 – U.K. Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the Greater Washington Initiative (GWI) will host a half-day conference in London, England, on Tuesday, 18 October, on how small- and medium-sized British technology companies can win contracts with the U.S. Government , the world's largest buyer of technology.
U.S. Government spending on technology is projected to increase from £32 billion ($58 billion) in 2005 to £41 billion ($74 billion) in 2009, with more than half of this spending earmarked for the U.S. military and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Among the featured speakers will be Richard Higgs, CEO, of Strategic Thought Group, a London-based firm that developed “ARM”, an Active Risk Manager Software product. The company opened a Washington, DC area office last December. Its customers include major U.S. defence contractors such as Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman as well as U.S. government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The company’s most recent deal, worth $1.7 million, was signed by NASA earlier this month.
