Size: 26 square miles

The most urban of Virginia's counties, Arlington lies just across the Potomac from the District of Columbia. Residents have a wide choice of homes along tree-lined streets, as well as gracious town homes and modern high-rise communities. They enjoy an excellent public school system, top private schools and abundant recreational and cultural opportunities, including 175 parks and playgrounds and 85 miles of bike and jogging trails.

One in every five jobs in Northern Virginia is located in Arlington. Since 1980, the County's office and commercial markets have more than doubled. Arlington's location and its highly educated, multi-cultural workforce make it attractive to a growing base of employers, which include: Bell Atlantic, MCI, USAir, Marriott Corporation and the National Science Foundation.
