In 2010, minority populations will represent nearly half (46%) of the region's total population. Greater Washington's Hispanic and Asian communities are expected to grow more than 20% by 2010.
Outpacing the growth of Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, foreign-born residents became a larger share of Greater Washington's population - increasing from 11% to 16% - between the U.S. Cencus counts in 1990 and 2000.
